Day 14 - Tour of the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens

Today was a trip to the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens and Japanese Gardens. So... just for the sake of taking out my camera and dusting it off... I walked over 100 acres today and took photos of flowers... and critters. I should mention that its FREE entry to the Botanical Gardens!
First up was the conservancy... for a whole buck I got some mosquito bites and a moist environment. Pretty cool plants too.

Next up was the walk through the courtyard...

From there I took the cool forest boardwalk that goes from one end of the botanical gardens to the other. Also, there are learning spots for kids along the way. I'll admit, I wasn't very good at guessing... for shame!

Then it was time to enjoy the Japanese Gardens ($4 entry during the week). You will see below that it was worth every penny of entry... very beautiful place.

Pond turtle family

Resident Herring scoping out their next meal...

Amazingly large and beautiful Coy... this one seamed to glow

Feeding frenzy, for 25 cents you can feed them!

Feed Me....

Chameleon Lizards... they would change colors
Then I walked through the rose garden... this is something you want to see in April and October when it's in full bloom.

A couple more random shots... but this is my favorite tree....

And a Begonia Garden

A cactus garden... one of the smallest exhibits in the place, which is kinda funny with all this drought...

And after say 5 or 6 hours with lunch... It was time to see the skyline home. It's a good 45 min to an hour between Dallas and Ft. Worth, the ride home today presented some traffic jams and extended that time.

The whole place is rather large... but worth the walk to see everything. I took plenty of time in the Japanese Garden... and it appears their doing major expansion, so I'm sure I'll be back. That's all the excitement I can stand for one day... so I'll publish this early! Enjoy the tour...
